The HRC is excited to announce plans for VCU's first Humanities Symposium, to be held in April 2026. This inaugural event will showcase the vital research and creative work of our faculty and students across the humanities and humanistic social sciences. We envision a symposium that celebrates interdisciplinary collaboration and highlights the diverse methodologies, perspectives, and innovations that emerge when scholars work across traditional disciplinary boundaries, bringing together insights from literature, history, philosophy, languages, the arts, cultural studies, and beyond.
We are seeking faculty members to join the planning committee and help shape the vision and direction of this symposium. This is an opportunity to influence the event's themes, format, and scope as we work together to create a meaningful platform for humanistic inquiry at VCU.
If you are interested in contributing to the planning process, please reach out to cstanciu@vcu.edu. We welcome diverse perspectives and expertise as we build this new tradition for our university.
