Michael Means
Biography
Michael Means, Ph.D., is an associate professor of English at Brightpoint Community College, where he's taught a variety of literature and composition courses since 2019. His research interests include adaptation studies, multi-ethnic American literature and visual culture, queer studies, and composition studies; currently, he is focused on increasing experiential learning opportunities centered around civic and community engagement for students.
Michael has served as a faculty mentor for the Mellon Pathways Program, helping community college students tackle a year-long research project on their path to VCU, and has worked with Brightpoint's Center for Teaching and Learning as a faculty fellow. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Media, Art, and Text (MATX) from VCU and previously worked as the HRC's administrative coordinator.
